This post is all about how to pick your wedding date that will be perfect for you, your guests, and your loved ones.
How to Pick Your Wedding Date
1. Determine How Long You Need to Plan
When thinking about when you should have your wedding, it’s really important to figure out how long you will need to plan it all out.
Don’t underestimate how long it’ll take you either. Planning a wedding is no joke, and if you’re wanting to go big, you’ll want even more time to get it all done.
Another element of the wedding planning process to think about as you make your decision is how long you want to delay planning! Sometimes it’s nice to just bask in the engagement mode. Enjoy that time, you’re not in a rush.
However long you want to plan, you’re going to want to determine that before picking your date. Give yourself some flexibility! Don’t lock yourself into a date and give yourself any unnecessary stress.
It’s already stressful enough lol
2. Discuss with Vendors and Loved Ones
Depending on the time of year, or month you want to host your wedding, you’ll want to consider chatting with your vendors and loved ones.
The date you choose can impact the availability of both of those parties, so figuring that out ahead of time can avoid any heartbreak in that area.
If you are wanting to have a competitive vendor help with your wedding, this step will be particularly important. You don’t want to select a date that your dream venue is already booked for… so sad.
You also don’t want to have your parents missing at your wedding because they had a trip to Thailand booked already.
If you value advice from others, this is a really helpful step to take action on as you try to figure out how to pick your wedding date.

3. Anticipate Your Budget
Ok, you know how important your budget is (or I hope you do!). The date that you pick will impact your budget A TON.
This is why determining your budget BEFORE you pick your date is SO important. Don’t skip this step, please!
You want to know how much you are willing and able to spend total on your whole wedding before looking at dates.
Ok, now that you have figured out your budget, you can now look at how much each season or month costs for various vendors that you have prioritized.
This should really help you narrow down on what would be the best time for you to plan on getting married!

4. Ask What Do You WANT
Sounds basic right? That’s because it honestly is!
Determining what you really want for you wedding is the most important and essential factors when you are selecting your wedding date.
Do you want to get married in the spring? Do you want to go on your honeymoon to Alaska? Are you hoping to be graduated?
These are the types of questions or answers that you’re going to want to figure out as you decide when to set your wedding date for.
Maybe you even have a date during the year that is significant and that’s more important to you than anything else. Pick that date!
Anyways, you get when I’m trying to say. Figure out what you want for your wedding and work with that to help you select your date.
5. Ask What Do You NOT Want
Similar to the step above, you have to figure out what you DON’T want for your wedding.
Some people can’t handle potential snow. Maybe you don’t want to deal with competing with other weddings that crowd wedding season.
Whatever it is, before you pick you wedding date, try to sort those things out that would make you cringe.
Once you really know what you are hoping to not have to deal with, you’re in a much better place to rule out potential wedding dates.
This step really helped me to pick my wedding date. I didn’t want to get married close to Christmas and the holiday season. Because of this, I decided to get married in November, and it honestly saved me a ton of money in the end!
