Are you struggling to find new and exciting things to do as newlyweds? Getting bored of the same old thing day in and day out? Yeah it’s a struggle for us all! This post is all about fun things to do after you get married that will fill your planner up and add spice into your daily life!
- Have a bonfire
Summer is the best time for this activity obviously. Take some things to roast and some firewood, and have some fun! Take your bonfire to the next level by bringing along a speaker and some music. You can go out into nature or stay in your backyard. If you have a fireplace, spark a flame in there!
- Go to open houses
Just because you are newly married and may not have the money to buy a house right now doesn’t mean you can’t window shop. Go around town on a Saturday and see open houses. Remember things you like and don’t like. You can even pretend with each other that you are looking to buy and act all sophisticated and fancy.
- Have a love letter journal
This is my older brother’s idea. Have a journal that you pass between you both that records love letters and sweet notes. You can share funny stories and fond memories.
- Explore your town
How funny is it that we go so far to explore other towns, but most of the time we haven’t taken time to see our own. Take some time to see the sights and explore, you may be surprised to find out what has been right there all along.
- Take a drive
Forget the map and just go. There is something so therapeutic about driving. Turn up your music and roll down the windows. Point out cool things along the way such as the beautiful nature, unique homes, and historical architecture. Don’t forget to fill the tank.
- Make-out only
Want to make things more exciting and spicy? You can only make-out tonight. (Just see how long you can last). To make things even more fun, cuddle and whisper sweet nothings.
- Fast food round robin
Want a meal with multiple courses and not have to pay a pretty penny for it? Here’s how to do it. Go around to all the fast food restaurants you like and get various courses for each. Get a salad from Wendy’s, curly fries from Arbies, and entre from Chick-fil-a! Top it off with a milkshake from McDonalds.
- Go thrifting
Do you know where your local thrift shops are? You can find some hidden gems there. Go together and see who can find the most unique items. Maybe even look for a new retro outfit!
- Start a new hobby together (learning languages, skiing, cooking or baking)
Discovery is exciting. Failing and learning can be fun processes to go through together, and this would allow for that to happen on a smaller scale than other life lessons. Become passionate about something you both enjoy doing.
- Go camping
There is nothing more romantic than nature (in my opinion). Even if you and your spouse are not very outdoorsy, this is a great way to get out of your comfort zone. Find somewhere you both want to see and just go! Bring plenty of food, an air mattress, plenty of blankets, and sleeping bags.
- Make a youtube channel
Not only is this a fun and creative outlet, but also you may even find an additional way to earn money. Make them funny, helpful, random, whatever you want! All you really need is a phone!
- Go on a double date with another couple
Being social with other couples can be a lot of fun. After getting married, it can be hard to break out of your routine and see other people. After all, you are with your #1 now, so why branch out? You might find that this adds a fun dynamic to your relationship and opens your eyes to qualities in your spouse you hadn’t noticed before.
- Interview each other with clever questions
Before you were married there may not have been time or opportunity to ask those random and weird questions. You may have felt too shy to do this even. Come up with the most odd-ball questions, and ask them! What is their spirit animal? Celebrity crush? Least favorite gum flavor? ASK WHY!
- Plan your dream vacation
We all want to travel. Yep! Whether or not you have the time or money to actually take trips is another story… but everyone has the ability to dream! Research the most appealing place you both want to go and plan it all out to the tiniest detail! Even decide how much money it would take to do this trip and start saving up!
- Write your bucket list
Get it all out there folks. Yes, this is a fun activity. You may want to have individual bucket lists for each person, and then a combined one that you both agree on. As much as possible, try to come up with things you can do together! It’s more likely that you’ll do the things you want to if you write them down and have someone else who knows what they are.
- Design your dream home
As a kid, did you ever design your dream home? With the pool in the basement that had a slide in every room? Or was that just me? Well, now you have your partner in crime to design the ultimate dream home with! Write down or draw your ideas and keep them somewhere you won’t lose them.
- Discover a new show you both love
Are you a TV lover? Yeah I think we all kind of are haha! Find a new show that neither one of you have watched before, and enjoy it together. You could binge watch, or make a plan for a night each week you will watch and create a tradition.
- Spend a whole day without technology
A day without ANY tech will force you to get creative, wow! It may not sound very fun right now, but you will be surprised how great it is to focus all your energy and attention on your spouse and the moments you are enjoying together instead of those pesky screens.
- Take a hike or walk
Yay for exercise! Spending time outside and physically challenging yourself is great for the soul. Not only that, but walks and hikes are perfect environments for you to just chat!
- Have a picnic
Make or buy some food and take it to a park! My husband and I used to drive the car up to a lookout point, open the trunk and sit back there while we ate. Get creative! This can be a great way to save money if you make the food yourself.
- Pull and allnighter
Not too much to comment here 😉 I will say, this is a lot harder than you’d expect when you are both working hard each day. Push through the tiredness, but don’t shame each other if you need to take a “power nap” at 2am.
- Create a playlist
Have you actually sat down and put all of your favorite songs in one spot? This is the gift that keeps on giving. Not only is it fun to go through your fav’s together, but now you have the perfect playlist for each roadtrip, and something to keep adding to.
- Go stargazing
How fun and romantic! Consider downloading an app that shows the constellations, or just have fun saying what each shape reminds you of.
- Take a spontaneous trip
Is there a place you’ve always wanted to visit, but just never have? Do you have a car? These spontaneous trips are the best if you can roadtrip. Consider camping to save on cost and go see that place!
- Learn to dance
You can take a dance class or pull something up on youtube, but however you want to do it, this is usually a funny and fun experience (especially when neither of you know what you are doing!). This also can be something that becomes a tradition, and a very great way to bond!
- Have a spa day
At home or at the actual spa, either way, relax together! I’m talking face masks, massages, calming music, cucumbers on the eyes. Yep! Oh and don’t forget to take a few photos to remember how your husband looks with his fluffy robe on.
- Do a photoshoot
No fancy equipment required if you don’t have it. Just go somewhere and take some photos! Do some epic poses, find some cool backdrops. Then, download an editing app, and have some fun fixing them up!
- Go hammocking
This isn’t very complicated. Just hang your hammock between two trees, and hop on in!
- Look at your facebook going back to the beginning
The younger generation doesn’t have this embarrassing thing called your 13-year-old self on Facebook. It’s honestly scary. If you know what I’m talking about, then this one works for you. Now that you are married, no shame! Go back to the very beginning and look at all the cringey posts and pictures you have out there!
- Stay in bed all day
Some of you may think this sounds fun, others horrible! But it’s worth a shot! Get all the food close by, and just waste away the day together!
- Redecorate your home
When was the last time you switched up the decorations around your home? Look up some pictures on pinterest, and get going! You may even consider breaking out some power tools to really have some fun!
- Plant a garden, even a mini one
Even if you don’t have a lot of space, working together on a garden can be super fun! Watching your little seeds grow is so rewarding, and looking forward to the veggies or herbs that will grow is exciting.
- Go pet some puppies
They are cute, they are soft, they are high energy. Everything about this is fun for you and your spouse. It’s a no-brainer. Even if you just go to the pet shop for a few hours. Just be sure to make expectations clear on whether or not one will come home with you.
